Hiking in the Rheingau
Come find the Rheingau’s hidden nature: A small sandy bay right on the banks of the Rhine. Boundless vineyards beckoning to the wanderlust and speckled with shady, old fruit trees and ancient Christian monuments. A bench with a view that will tempt you to sit and watch forever. Cheerful, cool woods when the valley is stifling hot. Just put on your hiking boots and start exploring.
If you prefer to plan your hike and walk along sign-posted hiking trails, there are many different trails to choose from in the Rheingau. The most popular ones are the Rhine Trail (Rheinsteig), Riesling Trail (Rieslingpfad), Mill Trail (Mühlenweg), Rheingau Flute Trail (Flötenweg), History Trail (Historienweg), Wild Herbs Loop Walk (Wildkräuterrundwanderweg) and the Geological Loop Walk (geologischer Rundwanderweg). The new Monastery Trail (Klostersteig) has also gained a lot of popularity, offering beautiful views combined with insights into the monasteries of the Rheingau.
